How Ipsos iSay works

Ipsos iSay is the online panel behind a lot of the consumer research Ipsos runs for brands, media and governments. You join for free, answer profile questions about yourself and your household, and Ipsos matches you to surveys that fit. Invitations arrive by email, in the website dashboard and in the app. Ipsos says it emails up to three times a day when surveys are available.

Every survey shows its points value before you start, and the value depends mostly on length. Points normally land within a few minutes of finishing, though some multi-day studies only pay on the last day. Each profile survey pays 20 points the first time you complete it, so finishing your profile early is worth it twice: once for the points, and again because better matching means fewer screen-outs.

Beyond standard surveys, Ipsos runs live studies (scheduled, interactive sessions with other members) and occasional product tests, where you use a product at home and answer a follow-up survey. In some product tests you keep the product.

How much can you earn?

Ipsos does not publish an hourly rate, and it is unusually blunt about expectations. Its own FAQ says members "will not earn big money by taking surveys" and that any offer promising lots of money did not come from Ipsos iSay. Take that at face value: iSay is a slow-accumulation panel.

What moves your balance is volume and consistency. Answer invitations quickly, because survey spots fill up. Keep your profile current. Use the app's notifications so you catch short surveys in spare minutes. Ipsos also runs promotions such as seasonal survey challenges and a daily prize wheel; in October 2026 the wheel fed a monthly draw for five 10,000-point prizes.

Cashing out: the rules that trip people up

Redeeming is simple: open the Rewards tab, pick a reward from the catalogue, and the reward is emailed to the address on your account. Ipsos says digital gift cards, prepaid cards and PayPal funds are delivered instantly. The catalogue changes by country. The Google Play listing says gift cards start at $5, and the rewards shown on the US homepage range from 200 to 5,090 points.

Four rules cause most of the frustration you will read about online:

• The 96-hour hold. New members cannot redeem anything for 96 hours after registering. Ipsos uses that window to review your answers and behaviour, and it can close accounts it judges fraudulent, forfeiting the points.
• The 90-day activation window. The reward email contains an activation link that is valid for 90 days. If you never click it, you can lose the reward.
• The PayPal email must match. PayPal rewards go to the email on your iSay account. If your PayPal uses a different address, add your iSay email to PayPal before redeeming, because Ipsos cannot change a reward once it is sent.
• Inactivity deletes your points. If you go more than six months without any panel activity, or without clicking a survey invitation, Ipsos can close the membership. It tells you first, and you get 30 days to redeem or reactivate.

Changing your account email also triggers a 48-hour redemption hold. Points do not expire while you are active, so the practical advice is to redeem as soon as you reach a reward you want rather than hoarding.

Is Ipsos iSay legit?

Yes. Ipsos iSay is run by Ipsos, a market research company founded in 1975 that conducts research in over 100 countries. In the US the panel is operated by Ipsos Interactive Services LLC, a Delaware company based in Chicago. Membership is free, and Ipsos states that it pays all costs, including shipping for product tests.

Two signals look worse than the reality, and both deserve context. On Trustpilot, the company's rating is currently unavailable "due to a breach of our guidelines" across 57,091 reviews; Trustpilot does not say what the breach was, so we do not treat it as evidence either way. On Google Play the app holds 4.6 stars from about 148,000 ratings, which is strong for a survey app.

The terms carry two clauses worth knowing about. Each person may hold only one account. US members also agree to binding arbitration, which limits how disputes can be pursued.

What members complain about

Reading the most recent Trustpilot reviews (April to October 2026) and Google Play reviews, the same themes keep coming up:

• Screen-outs partway through. Members describe being disqualified or kicked out several minutes into a survey.
• Surveys that break before the end, paying nothing. Ipsos's replies say points are only credited for surveys recorded as complete.
• Account deactivations. Members report closures after identity or quality checks on open-ended answers, sometimes with points still in the balance.
• Survey droughts and unavailable rewards. Some members report weeks without invitations, or catalogue rewards marked unavailable.

On the positive side, members repeatedly mention rewards arriving within minutes and a wide catalogue of gift cards. Our read: payment is reliable, and the risk sits in survey quality controls. Write real sentences in open-ended answers, never speed through, and keep one account per person.

How to get the most out of it

• Complete every profile survey in the first week: 20 points each, plus better matching.
• Turn on app notifications and answer invitations fast; spots are limited.
• Write full, specific answers to open-ended questions. Quality checks are how accounts get closed.
• Redeem as soon as you hit a reward you want, and click the activation link the same day.
• Log in or click an invitation at least once every few months so the account never counts as inactive.
• Pair it with a higher-paying panel. Prolific requires researchers to pay participants at least £6 / $8 an hour, and Branded Surveys or Prime Opinion add volume.
