How PrizeRebel works

PrizeRebel is a rewards site that has been online since 2007, run by iAngelic, Inc., a Nevada corporation. Its homepage claims over 16.8 million members and more than $35 million in rewards given. It runs in a web browser; there is no app.

You earn points several ways: surveys from research companies, which appear on your dashboard by provider; offer walls from partners such as Adgate, Adscend, AyetStudios, RevenueUniverse and ToroX, where you try apps, sign up for trials, watch videos or play games to a target; referrals; daily and weekly challenges; contests; raffles; and promo codes posted on PrizeRebel's social channels.

The terms require you to be 18, or 16 with a parent or guardian's permission, and allow one account per person and per household. You must not use a proxy or mask your connection, and PrizeRebel can ask for a driver's licence or passport to verify your identity. The site is open worldwide outside restricted countries, but PrizeRebel says survey numbers vary by country, and its guidance on survey timing covers only the US, Canada, the UK and Australia.

What PrizeRebel points are worth

PrizeRebel does not publish a points table, but its own blog said in 2016 that the lowest rewards started at 500 points for a $5 Amazon card or $5 in Bitcoin, which works out at 100 points to the dollar. Its homepage today puts the PayPal minimum at $5.

Gift cards can cost less than that as you level up. Each level brings a prize discount on every reward except PayPal, a one-off reward discount, and a monthly bonus on the points you earned from surveys and offer walls. So PayPal is the simplest option, while gift cards stretch your points further.

Points for a completed survey usually arrive within 30 minutes of the thank-you page, though some surveys go through manual review that takes 24 hours to 30 days. High-value offer wall completions stay pending for 21 days to guard against fraud.

Levels

PrizeRebel's levels run Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Emerald, each split into 10 stages that pay a reward when you complete them. Only points from surveys, offer walls and referrals count towards progress; contests, promo codes and challenge bonuses do not. Once earned, a level is never lost.

The perks are worth having. Your share of referrals' survey and offer points rises from 10% at Bronze to 15% at Gold, the prize discount grows, and from Gold up, in-stock digital rewards are processed automatically, in about 10 minutes. Your first code-based prize at Gold or above still goes through a one-time manual security check.

Cashing out

The rewards catalog covers PayPal, gift cards from brands such as Amazon, Target, Walmart, eBay and Starbucks, game codes, and Bitcoin and other crypto through BitPay or Azteco Lightning vouchers. In the US you can also take Venmo or a bank transfer. Options depend on your country.

Claims are processed within about 24 hours below Gold level. After that, digital codes appear in your reward history, emailed gift cards arrive from the merchant within 24 to 48 hours, Venmo within 24 hours and bank transfers in 2 to 4 business days.

Things to know before you redeem:

• PayPal, Venmo and bank transfers are paid through Tremendous: you open a link in your reward history and enter your details. Venmo and bank transfer links expire if you leave them.
• Tremendous may charge a fee on Venmo and bank transfers, shown before you confirm.
• A pending claim can be cancelled for a refund of points; a processed one cannot be cancelled or exchanged.
• Crypto sent to a wrong wallet address cannot be recovered.
• PrizeRebel does not replace lost or stolen rewards.

Surveys, screen-outs and quality

PrizeRebel says most surveys take 5 to 30 minutes and that weekdays have the most, with Sunday the slowest day. In the US and Canada the best hours are 7am to 5pm Pacific time.

Screen-outs pay nothing. PrizeRebel is frank that some surveys reveal their criteria only partway through, so you can be screened out late, and that it has no control over that. It suggests completing your profile in full, avoiding VPNs, ad blockers and private browsing, and trying providers it says screen out less, such as Samplicious and its own Surveywall.

PrizeRebel also tracks a reversal rate: the share of your completes later rejected for speeding, poor open-ended answers, contradictions or failed attention checks. A high rate can block you from surveys, as can taking more than one survey at a time.

Inactivity and account rules

An account that goes 180 days without either logging in or earning points is treated as inactive, and all its points are voided. Unlike many sites, simply logging in keeps the account alive.

The terms let PrizeRebel decide how many points an activity is worth, and even to award none, without explanation. For breaking the rules it can void your points and rewards and close the account, and it may ask for tax information if your earnings may be reportable.
