Freecash Review 2026: 5% Cash-Out Fees, ID Checks, Game Offers, and the App Store Removal

How Freecash works

Freecash is run by Almedia GmbH, a Berlin advertising technology company, and pays you for actions inside other companies' products: reaching levels in mobile games, signing up for apps and trials, shopping through cashback links, and answering surveys. Game studios and brands pay Almedia for engaged users, and Freecash passes part of that on to you.

Freecash's homepage is unusually frank about what that adds up to. It says most users earn "somewhere from a few dollars up to around $50 in a typical month", and that the small number who earn much more "pour in a lot of time and spend a lot of money to get there".

For anyone coming from survey sites, the key point is that surveys are a side dish here. Freecash says surveys and its Offer Partner walls are only offered in select regions, that no level or setting unlocks them, and that two accounts in the same country can see different surveys. Its survey partners include CPX Research, BitLabs, TapResearch and YourSurveys. Disqualifications work as they do everywhere: most happen because you are not the audience a study wants, and the rest come from inconsistent answers, timeouts, VPNs or ad blockers.

Around the offers sits a layer of game mechanics: levels (one per $1 earned, which unlock nothing), daily streaks, weekly Leagues, quests and a weekly lottery with a ticket for every cent you earn. Since August 2026 some offer tasks also let you choose between a guaranteed reward and "Open Case", a random prize that Freecash says can be worth up to 25 times more but can also land below the guaranteed amount. Freecash's own prompt on that screen reads "Don't want to gamble? Take the guaranteed reward instead." Take the guaranteed amount.

Game offers, the reward multiplier and spending

Most of the money on Freecash is in game offers: install a game through Freecash and reach set milestones, such as a level or chapter, before a deadline. Tracking is strict, and Freecash's help centre lists the ways to lose a reward:

• You have ever installed the game before, on any device. Previous installs never track.
• You decline the game's tracking prompt, or ad personalisation is off on your phone.
• You switch devices mid-offer, use a VPN or ad blocker, or delete and reinstall the game.
• You finish after the deadline. Freecash says support cannot override a missed time limit.

The part to read twice is how the biggest rewards are set. On Freecash Exclusive offers, a Reward Multiplier from 1 to 5 adjusts each game's payouts "based on the user's activity and in-app purchases", and Freecash says the payout can go down if your level drops. Its Burning Tasks add speed bonuses that shrink every three days, and Freecash says that in many cases the top tiers "are designed for players who are willing to utilize In-App Purchases". A 2024 Google Play reviewer described her multiplier falling from 5 to 1 and a $50 reward dropping to $5; Freecash replied that incentives are set by factors including in-app purchases.

Our read: treat any offer that needs in-game spending as a purchase, not an investment. Several recent Trustpilot reviewers describe spending hundreds of dollars or euros on a game offer and then having the reward reversed or their cash outs locked.

Cashing out and fees

Your first withdrawal has three requirements: a verified email address, a Veriff identity check, and a minimum balance that Freecash says varies from $5 to $20 by region. After that, there is no further ID check and no minimum beyond each method's own, such as $5 for PayPal.

The options, and what each costs:

• PayPal: $5 to $200 per withdrawal, with a 5% fee, so $25 pays $23.75. Most PayPal and Venmo withdrawals now go through Tremendous, which emails you a link to claim the money.
• Venmo: 5% fee, claimed the same way through Tremendous.
• Bank transfer: US accounts via ACH, and 21 SEPA countries in euros, both with a 5% fee. Freecash's pages quote anything from instant for SEPA to 2 to 5 business days for ACH. SEPA was withdrawn in the Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Sweden.
• Visa prepaid: $5 to $200, 5% deducted, always issued in US dollars.
• Gift cards: including Amazon from $5, Apple and Google Play. They are region-locked and non-refundable, so only withdraw a card for your own country.
• Crypto: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Dogecoin, usually within an hour. A payment to a valid address you do not control cannot be recovered.

Freecash says most withdrawals are approved within 30 minutes, with random manual checks, and that bank, Revolut and Stash withdrawals can take up to 3 business days. Payments go to whatever email address you type at cash out, not your account email, so check it every time: if a stranger owns the address you typed and claims the payment, it is gone.

Freecash also offers withdrawals to Stake, a crypto casino, with a withdrawal bonus, and pays $20 to US users who join Stake.us through Freecash and make a first deposit. That is gambling, and it has no place in a plan to earn money.

ID checks, holds and account rules

Before your first withdrawal, Veriff asks for a photo of a physical government ID and a selfie, and sometimes a short video with audio. Photocopies and pictures of an ID are rejected, and Freecash says there is no alternative method. Freecash's help centre says Veriff deletes user data after three years. Its terms also let it ask for more at any time, in routine or targeted account reviews, including proof of address and proof of purchase for offers.

Money can be delayed or lost after you earn it. Freecash's terms let it hold offer credits for up to 90 days, its fraud team holds random completed offers, and partners can issue chargebacks up to 90 days after an offer is credited. If more than 10% of your offers are charged back, all your offers are held until the rate falls. Cash outs can be paused for suspected VPN use, multiple accounts or a terms breach; Freecash says most pauses are lifted within 48 hours through a support chat, but that an explanation does not guarantee it. A full ban is final and cannot be appealed, and Freecash's terms say it does not have to disclose the signals behind a decision.

The account rules that catch people out:

• You must be 16 or older.
• Only one account per household, not just per person.
• No VPNs, proxies or iCloud Private Relay, and no earning while abroad: your account is tied to the country you first used it from.
• Your email address cannot be changed once verified, and a deleted account cannot be replaced with a new one.
• An account not logged into for a year can be closed after 30 days' email notice, and any balance left on it expires.

The 2026 app store removals

In January 2026 Freecash rose to No. 2 on the US App Store, helped by TikTok ads that, according to Malwarebytes, showed a young woman apparently "hired by TikTok" to watch videos and promised up to $35 an hour. TikTok removed some of the ads for financial misrepresentation. Freecash says affiliates made them, and its help centre now states that it has no feature that pays you to watch or scroll TikTok.

On April 13, 2026, after TechCrunch contacted it, Apple removed Freecash from the App Store, citing guidelines against scamming users, bait-and-switch tactics and misleading marketing. Google Play removed it on April 15. TechCrunch also reported that earlier Freecash apps had been removed from both stores in 2024, and that the iOS app had returned as a rebranded app from another developer account, which it said may have been a way of getting round a ban. Malwarebytes separately flagged that Freecash's privacy policy allowed the collection of sensitive data such as health, religion and sexual orientation.

Almedia disputes much of this. It says it is not a data broker and does not sell user data, that it has never collected sensitive data and has since removed the broad privacy policy wording, that it removed the affiliate behind the ads and apologised for them, and that it bought an existing rewards app after Apple changed its guidelines in 2025 to allow rewarded models. Google Play reinstated Freecash on May 7, 2026 and Apple on June 17, 2026. It now holds 4.5 stars from 551,000 reviews on Google Play and 4.7 from 151,000 ratings on the App Store.

Is Freecash legit?

It pays, and it is a registered German company. Its own figures do not agree with each other, though: the homepage claims $400 million+ in rewards to 64 million+ users, its June 2026 press release says more than $300 million to over 80 million users, and its "Is Freecash legit?" help article says $200 million+.

On Trustpilot it scores 4.6 out of 5 from 327,004 reviews, 85% of them five stars. Freecash invites its users to review, and some of its replies to positive reviews with lower star ratings ask the reviewer to raise their rating. Trustpilot also shows a notice on the page that the company may be associated with high-risk investments.

Its 1- and 2-star reviews from September and October 2026 follow a pattern: cash outs locked straight after an ID check or once a balance grew to between $30 and $700, game rewards reversed after the reviewer had spent money in the game, appeals that ended in a final decision with no reason, slow replies to tickets, and frustration with the 5% PayPal fee and a $20 or higher first cash out.

Our read: Freecash is a real business that pays out quickly, but its rules give it wide room to hold, reverse or refuse rewards, and its model works best for Freecash when you spend. Stick to free offers, cash out small amounts often, and never spend chasing a reward.

How to get the most out of Freecash

• Only start game offers for games you have never installed on any device, and allow tracking when the game asks.
• Read each offer's deadline and requirements before installing; a missed deadline cannot be credited.
• Skip offers and multiplier tiers that need in-app purchases.
• Take the guaranteed reward instead of opening a case.
• Cash out often in small amounts, and check the payout email address every time.
• Compare the 5% fee on PayPal, Venmo and bank with the gift card options before you withdraw.
• Keep screen recordings of big offers, which Freecash says are its preferred evidence for tickets.
• For surveys, pair it with a survey-first platform such as PaidViewpoint or Prolific.
