MyPoints Review 2026: What Points Are Worth, PayPal From $10, Survey Rules and Recent Complaints

How MyPoints works

MyPoints has been running since 1996, when it began in partnership with United Airlines, and is now owned by Prodege, the company behind Swagbucks and InboxDollars; all three share one set of US terms of use. Retailers and advertisers pay MyPoints a commission for sending them customers, and MyPoints passes part of that on as points.

The ways to earn are cashback shopping at over 1,900 retailers, surveys, Magic Receipts for grocery and in-store purchases, offers in its Deals section, games, BonusMail emails and web searches. BonusMail pays a few points for clicking, often 5, and more if you complete the offer inside; searches through MyPoints' Yahoo-powered search pay at random, up to 170 points at a time.

New members get $2 for confirming their email address. MyPoints also advertises 1,750 points, which it values at a $10 gift card, if you spend $20 or more through it in your first 30 days; one of its help articles for the same promotion asks for two $20 purchases instead, so read the offer terms on your account before you shop for it.

On top sit daily extras. The Daily Goal pays bonus points for reaching a personal points target, with streak bonuses of up to 300 points for hitting it every day of a month, claimed between the 5th and 15th of the next month. BINGO boards pay 10 to 500 bonus points, and Point Perks are short codes posted on MyPoints' site and social channels that credit a fixed number of points.

What a MyPoints point is worth

MyPoints does not publish a fixed rate, and its own figures disagree. Its first-purchase promotion values 1,750 points at $10 (175 points to the dollar), a March 2025 BINGO post values 1,500 points at $10 (150 to the dollar), and an older help article uses 300 points for a $3 Amazon card (100 to the dollar).

The rewards catalogue sits behind a login. A third-party review that checked it on September 2, 2026 found 480 points for a $3 Amazon gift card, 790 points for a $5 gift card and 1,590 points for $10 by PayPal: about 160 points to the dollar. Replying to a long-time member on Trustpilot in July 2026, MyPoints said "redemption thresholds and point values may change over time". Treat any rate as a snapshot, and check the points price of the reward you want before you work towards it.

Surveys and crediting

Surveys come from market research partners and run on their sites. MyPoints quotes different ceilings in different places: up to 400 points a survey on its How MyPoints Works page, up to 2,200 on its homepage, and "as much as $50" on its surveys page, which adds that most pay less. Screening takes time: MyPoints says passing the first screener takes 3 to 5 minutes on average, and you may be sent through a second or third round.

Where it beats most sites is screen-outs: you get 5 points each time you do not qualify, up to 25 such points a day, and 5 points for every 10 profile questions you answer. You must click back through to MyPoints at the end of a survey or it cannot credit you. Some surveys warn up front that credit can take up to 7 business days, and MyPoints may ask for screenshots before or after it credits a survey.

Answer carefully. MyPoints flags accounts for nonsense open-ended answers, speeding, failing trick questions, contradicting your profile and not turning up to a focus group you agreed to, and enough flags disable surveys on the account. Its notice for those members says MyPoints "can no longer provide you with survey opportunities" and offers no route back.

Shopping, receipts, offers and games

Shopping is the core of MyPoints. You click through to a retailer from MyPoints or its Score! browser extension and earn up to 20 points per dollar on the subtotal, after tax, shipping and discounts. Retailers report most purchases within 2 to 5 business days but can take up to 30, travel bookings post within 60 days of the trip, and the points then stay pending for 30 days. Returns, cancellations and in-store exchanges reverse them, MyPoints treats a pattern of orders followed by cancellations as fraud, and buying gift cards usually earns nothing.

For tracking to work, MyPoints says to buy straight after clicking through, with no other tabs open, ad blockers off and only its own coupon codes. Score! can stop working if you also run the Swagbucks extension; MyPoints suggests a separate browser for each.

Offers in its Deals section carry Prodege's strictest rule: if your first click does not show in your activity ledger, MyPoints "will NOT credit you rewards under any circumstances". For multi-step offers you must check the ledger after every step and open a ticket before going further if a step did not track.

The other channels:

• Magic Receipts: weekly in-store deals that run from Thursday to the following Wednesday, plus up to 10 receipts a week from any store. Upload while the deal is live; each receipt counts once, for one member, on one rewards site.
• Games: MyPoints only pays for its GSN cash games when you deposit money, up to 4 points per dollar, and links to WorldWinner cash tournaments that need a deposit and are barred in seven states. Game-app offers on iPhone cannot credit unless you allow the game to track you.
• Donation and high-value offers: two 2026 Trustpilot reviewers describe $25 charity donations promised 2,500 points that did not credit without repeated tickets. Keep receipts and confirmation emails for any offer worth more than a few hundred points.

Cashing out

Rewards include gift cards and e-certificates, PayPal, a prepaid Visa or virtual Mastercard reward card, and United MileagePlus miles. Only available points count; anything still pending cannot be spent. MyPoints' Google Play listing quotes $5 to $25 gift cards, and the September 2026 check above found PayPal starting at $10.

The options:

• PayPal: your MyPoints name and email must match your PayPal account exactly, and the PayPal account must be verified, for example by linking a bank account. One help article quotes up to 5 business days for the transfer; another says it typically takes 10 business days to start.
• Gift cards: emailed within 3 business days, sometimes up to 10. An e-gift card cannot be swapped for a physical one.
• Mastercard reward card: virtual, for use online or by phone wherever Mastercard debit is accepted. A plastic card costs $3 from the balance and takes two to three weeks.
• United MileagePlus miles: posted to your MileagePlus account within 48 hours.

The first time you redeem, MyPoints may make you verify the account with a PIN sent by text or on a postcard to your home, and it can ask for your date of birth. It collects tax details before a redemption once you qualify in a calendar year, and files a 1099 for anyone who redeems $600 or more in a year from survey, search, video, sign-up, promotional or referral earnings.

Account rules, ID checks and suspensions

MyPoints can ask you to verify your identity through Persona, typically with a photo of a government ID and a selfie, and says its own review can take up to 10 further business days. A phone number can be tied to only one account.

Its suspension article, updated October 7, 2026, lists running more than one account, search or click patterns that break the terms, bots or scripts, encouraging others to break the rules, and inappropriate posts on its social channels or blogs. If a suspension is a mistake, the login screen offers a photo ID check that restores access straight away, or an account inquiry reviewed by support.

The rules that catch people out:

• One account per member. Prodege's terms also ban VPNs, proxies, single-use phone numbers and fake ID documents.
• Sharing Point Perk codes or receipts with other members can get an account deactivated.
• MyPoints' Facebook house rules ban comments "intended to detract from MyPoints" and warn that breaking them can get your MyPoints account suspended.
• Credits added by support wait 7 days for a fraud review before they count.
• Closing your account cancels every unredeemed point, and support cannot restore them.
• Under Prodege's terms, an account that misses its minimum activity standards for 12 months can be closed, and Prodege can set expiry rules for points.

Is MyPoints legit?

Yes: it is a long-running rewards programme owned by Prodege, and it pays out. Its claims about its size do not line up, though. Its surveys page says it has "over 20 million active members" and, a few paragraphs later, that it "has helped over 9 million members"; its Google Play listing says members have earned over $300 million in gift cards.

On Trustpilot it scores 4.2 from 25,992 reviews, 70% of them five stars. MyPoints invites members to review it, and only 55 reviews arrived in the 12 months to October 2026, so the score rests almost entirely on older ones. The unprompted reviews from mid-2026 are mostly complaints: offer and donation points that never credited, template replies pointing back to the activity ledger, accounts suspended with $15 to $25 in rewards at stake, an email verification step that stopped one member redeeming at all, and a member since 2003 saying reward prices keep rising. Its apps score 4.2 on Google Play from 8.85K reviews and 4.2 on the App Store from 6.2K ratings.

Our read: MyPoints is worth having if you already shop online in the US or Canada, where cashback, receipts and screen-out points add up without much extra effort. As a survey site it is ordinary, and chasing its larger offers carries a real risk of points that never arrive. Redeem as soon as you reach a reward you will use, keep confirmation emails, and check the ledger after every offer click.

How to get the most out of MyPoints

• Click through MyPoints or Score! right before every online purchase, with ad blockers off and no other coupon sites open.
• Check the activity ledger after any offer click, and after each step of a multi-step offer.
• Compare the points price of rewards before redeeming; the rate differs between them.
• Make sure your MyPoints name and email match PayPal exactly before a PayPal redemption.
• Keep survey profile answers consistent, and never speed through a survey.
• Keep confirmation emails for donations, offers and large purchases.
• Redeem regularly rather than letting points build up.
• For surveys, pair it with a survey-first site such as PaidViewpoint or Prolific.
