Survey Junkie Review 2026: $5 Cash Outs, Disqualifications, and ID Verification

Facts checked October 10, 2026

Survey Junkie is a straightforward survey site owned by research company DISQO: points are worth a cent each, you can cash out from $5 to PayPal, a bank account or gift cards, and PayPal usually arrives within hours. The trade-off is the usual one for survey sites, made sharper here: surveys average about 15 minutes, disqualifications only pay a few consolation points, and account verification problems can end in a permanent suspension.

How Survey Junkie works

Survey Junkie is wholly owned by DISQO, Inc., a market research and analytics company that sells consumer data and insights to businesses. You sign up with an email address, confirm your age, and complete a general profile that Survey Junkie uses to match you with surveys. It asks you to use your legal name and accurate details because they are checked when you redeem.

Each survey tile shows its points value, and 100 points is worth $1. Survey Junkie says surveys take about 15 minutes on average and require proficient English reading and writing. Some open in a new window, and Survey Junkie says not to close it until the survey is complete.

There is also an optional Surf to Earn programme, formerly called Pulse, available as desktop apps, an Android app and a Chrome extension. It collects your searches, site visits, app usage, shopping activity and ad views for DISQO's clients, and credits points once it has been enabled for 30 days. Survey Junkie says it never collects passwords, payment methods or Social Security numbers, and blocks financial, medical, government, file-sharing, messaging and email sites. It is a real privacy trade, so decide deliberately.

Disqualifications, full surveys and pending points

Surveys start with screening questions, and the outside providers who run them also analyse your answers during the survey to decide whether you fit their audience. If you are disqualified, your answers are not saved and Survey Junkie gives you "a few points for your effort", not the full reward.

Survey Junkie is also upfront that a survey can reach its quota while you are still taking it, because thousands of members are answering at the same time. That is behind many of the angriest reviews: people describe 20-minute surveys that ended without the advertised points.

Even a completed survey may not pay straight away. Some answers go through a provider review to confirm you match the target audience and gave accurate, legible answers, and the points stay pending until that review ends, which Survey Junkie says can take up to a month. If a completed survey never credits, email support@surveyjunkie.com with the survey ID or the date, time and points value.

Cashing out

You can redeem once you have 500 points ($5). Options are PayPal, bank transfer and gift cards such as Amazon, Target, Walmart, Sephora, Starbucks and Visa, though Survey Junkie says the choices vary by location and verification status. PayPal transfers usually process within a few hours; contact support if nothing has arrived after 24 hours.

A few rules are easy to miss:

  • Bank transfers go through Dwolla and need your routing and account numbers. Survey Junkie reserves the right to verify the identity of PayPal or Dwolla account holders and withhold payment.
  • Redeeming 5,500 points or more at once needs a manual payout through member support, so cash out before you reach that level.
  • US members must submit a W-9 once they redeem $2,000 in a calendar year. Members elsewhere should check their own country's rules.
  • Points do not expire for active members, but if you delete your account, or Survey Junkie terminates it for breaking the terms, every unredeemed point is lost.

Verification and account rules

Survey Junkie verifies identity both to protect members and to assure its research clients of real responses. Depending on the account, that can mean email or phone confirmation, a cross-check with its rewards partners, or photo ID verification through a third-party partner. Photo ID checks are reviewed automatically and usually clear in about five minutes; if yours does not, contact support.

Only one account per person is allowed, and Survey Junkie uses security measures to detect and deactivate duplicates. Your sign-up email is permanent in the system and only support can help you switch, so choose it carefully. Survey Junkie also asks you to avoid VPNs and proxies, which can cause survey errors.

Is Survey Junkie legit?

Yes. It is owned by DISQO, Inc., says it has over 10 million members and that 30,000+ members cash out each month, and its Android app holds 4.3 stars from about 109,000 reviews. On Trustpilot it scores 3.2 out of 5 from 44,905 reviews. Trustpilot notes that Survey Junkie has not invited reviews recently, and that it replies to 97% of negative ones.

Recent 1- and 2-star reviews from September and October 2026 focus on long surveys that disqualified or filled up near the end, completed surveys that were not credited, and accounts suspended for "unauthorized activities" or duplicate accounts, often right after an automated ID check failed. Several reviewers say appeals got a repeated decision rather than a fresh review. One Australian reviewer said the verification app was not available in their country.

Our read: payments are real and fast once you are verified, but the frustration rate is high. Keep your profile and ID details accurate, submit clear and uncropped ID photos if asked, and prefer shorter surveys.

How to get the most out of Survey Junkie

  • Sign up with your legal name and the email you plan to keep; neither is easy to change later.
  • Complete your general profile fully so you are matched with surveys you are more likely to qualify for.
  • Favour shorter surveys; a quota can fill while you are still answering a long one.
  • Note the survey ID and points value before you start, in case it does not credit.
  • If asked for photo ID, submit clear, complete images of both sides.
  • Cash out regularly, and before you reach 5,500 points.
  • Pair it with a platform that pays even when you are cut off, such as PaidViewpoint, or one with an hourly floor, such as Prolific.
